WKU’s Center for Research and Development provides state-of-the-art research facilities and access to world class applied research centers and scientists.

The facility houses WKU’s Applied Physics Institute, the Institute for Combustion Science & Environmental Technology, Material Characterization Center and Cyber Defense Center, a Small Business Accelerator with seventeen technology based businesses, and the Innovation and Commercialization Center.

The Center encourages and guides technology based business start-up and facilitates the growth of existing businesses to the next platform. The facilities offer an ideal environment for bringing together scientists and engineers from private companies and from the university for research collaborations.

The Office of Technology Transfer and Industry Relations, in collaboration with the Center, facilitates these relationships.
